Midwest Wetland Improvements, LLC (MWI) is a Minnesota-based ecological restoration and water resources consulting firm specializing in stream restoration, wetland restoration, and natural resource design across the Upper Midwest. Founded in 2020 and based in Victoria, Minnesota, MWI brings landscape architecture, ecology and engineering together to deliver field-grounded restoration design, permitting support, and construction-phase services for streams, rivers, wetlands, shorelines, and stormwater systems.
Our services include stream and river restoration design, Rosgen natural channel design, geomorphic and fluvial assessment, wetland delineation and restoration, wetland mitigation banking support, Wetland Conservation Act (WCA) technical assistance, stormwater management and green infrastructure design, erosion and sediment control, shoreline and bank stabilization, vegetation and native plant community establishment, ecological monitoring, and environmental permitting (Section 404/401, public waters, NPDES/construction stormwater, and local watershed permitting). We also provide landscape architecture services for restoration-oriented site design, outdoor learning environments, and water-centered public landscapes.
MWI is owned and led by Lucius Jonett, a licensed Professional Landscape Architect (PLA in MN, WI, IA, and ND). Lucius is a University of Minnesota alumnus, having earned his Master of Landscape Architecture and a graduate certificate in stream restoration from the University.
University purchasers should consider MWI for restoration and water resources work because the firm pairs technical depth with the responsiveness and accountability of a certified small business. MWI holds Small Business and Emerging Small Business Enterprise certifications and an Environmental Review and Technical Services Master Contract with the Minnesota Department of Administration. We are well suited to support campus grounds, research and outreach centers, the experiment stations, athletic and recreational lands, and academic departments needing restoration design, wetland and stream expertise, permitting, or monitoring on University-owned and University-managed lands.
